Reigning International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) two-time Entertainers of the Year Dailey & Vincent have launched the Dailey & Vincent Fund, to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged children of Tennessee's Jackson and DeKalb counties.
The duo of guitarist Jamie Dailey and bassist Darrin Vincent will perform with their band for their first annual homecoming charity concert Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Jackson County High School Football Field in Gainesboro, Tennessee. Tickets are $15, with proceeds going directly to the fund to help meet immediate medical, nutritional and educational needs not covered by insurance or other means.
Dailey & Vincent, who are also the leading 2010 IBMA award nominees with 10 nominations, performed at the recent Rector Concert 2010 benefiting the Rector High School Helping Hands Foundation of Rector, Arkansas.
"The Statler Brothers used to do a similar thing in their hometown of Staunton, Virginia, and then we were part of the Rector Concert and saw how that worked and combined the two in trying to start our own foundation," says Dailey, the IBMA's Male Vocalist of the Year nominee, who grew up in Gainesboro. (Dailey & Vincent's Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers is an IBMA Album of the Year nominee.)
"We started getting emails and phone calls about kids from around our home areas coming to school starving, who didn't have shoes and coats," continues Dailey. "Darrin's wife is a schoolteacher and told us stories, too."
Says IBMA Bass Player of the Year nominee and Dekalb County resident Vincent: "We want teachers to call our foundation so we can provide what their students need: coats, shoes, tooth care, eye care."
With teachers involvement, the Dailey & Vincent Fund will split money raised between the two counties. According to Dailey, $12,000 has already been raised.
While the duo is the only act to perform at the initial Oct. 2 concert fundraiser, they are considering adding another artist next year, having participated in the successful multiple-artist Rector Concert events.
Tickets for the Inaugural Dailey & Vincent Homecoming Concert are available at the Dailey & Vincent Web site, where donations can also be made.
Dailey & Vincent, whose Singing From the Heart CD helped raise funds for Tennessee Bible College, will perform at Joe's Pub in New York in November.
